On a Redeemable Ticket the barcode or QR code of the digital ticket is replaced with a button to redeem the ticket. When a ticket is redeemed, the information is sent to Tessitura and it is tracked as if it was scanned. Users can only redeem a ticket once. After being redeemed the ticket will show a message that it has already been redeemed.
Redeemable Tickets are great for:
- Food and beverage
- Parking passes
- Lounge access
- Special event merchandise
- Printed program books. If you are looking for ways to cut down on printed programs, this feature may help. Also, if you are only utilizing digital programs and still want to offer printed programs as a benefit (such as for subscribers or donors), then this feature may help.
- Any situation where you want to track ticket usage but a scanner is not available or necessary

Prerequisites

- Tessitura REST API v15.1.16 or above.
- You must have upgraded to use the REST API only. See How do I switch to the REST API-only?
- Your app must be on version 8.00.00 or later to display Redeemable Tickets. Please contact us if your app needs to be updated.
Tessitura setup
In Tessitura, follow your standard procedures to set up Performances. As far as Tessitura is concerned, there is no difference between a Digital Ticket with a barcode and a Redeemable Ticket.
The Performance will need a Performance Type that is specific for Redeemable Tickets. The Performance Type field is used by the app to identify if the ticket should have a barcode or the Redeem button.
InstantEncore setup
- Go to Control Panel > InstantApps > Tessitura and open the Digital Tickets section.
- Next to the Redeemable Tickets field, click the Manage link.
- Click the Settings item in the checklist on the right.
- Add one or more Performance Types. If a ticket has one of these performance types, then the Redeem button will be displayed on the ticket instead of the barcode.
Testing
On the Redeemable Tickets page you can enter a constituent email or ID. The list of Redeemable Tickets that will appear in the user's app and their status are displayed. Click the SLI value to view the details, including when the ticket was redeemed.
Ticket Sharing
Redeemable Tickets works with Ticket Sharing if you have enabled ticket sharing in the app.
The ticket share web page works similarly to the app:
- The webpage with the shared ticket will allow users to Redeem a ticket.
- The info will be sent to Tessitura.
- If the ticket has already been redeemed the user will see a message about this.
