How do I set up Interests?

This article only applies if you using the REST API-only Tessitura integration. If you are still using the SOAP integration you won't see these settings. To upgrade see How do I switch to the REST API-only?

You can allow patrons to set their Interests in the app. There are two places they can do this:

1. When they register for an account in the app
2. In the My Account section of the app if they are logged in

Interests in the My Account area

This article assumes you have already configured Tessitura with Interests. For more information see the Tessitura Help System: Constituent Records > Attributes Tab > Interests.

Setting up Interests in your app

Register Screen

1. Go to the Tessitura Settings page (Control Panel > InstantApps > Tessitura).
2. Open the Interests section.
3. Check the Enabled box to turn on interests on the Register screen.
4. Select the Keyword Categories that contain the interests you want to display. TNEW users: it's common for your keyword categories to start with these prefixes: TNEW_, TNEW_REG_, and TNEW_SHORTREG_.
   Note: The title of the category that is displayed to users is the Description of the category with these changes:
   • Any prefixes of TNEW_, TNEW_REG_, and TNEW_SHORTREG_ are removed.
   • _ are replaced with a space.
5. Set the Header Text. This text is displayed above the Interests.

My Account

Follow the same instructions above, but do it under the My Account (when logged in) section.
